Conversion - Ban it

The search of truth has been going on time immemorial. Whether it is from the oldest ever known religion the Vedic cult or Islam, or Christianity or Jainism or Buddhism or any other that you name. Each of them adhering to their own beliefs, thoughts and experiences. Neither of those who have had the very taste of this has shared it with others nor blame its co-existents. But people who pretend knowing all or realized create havoc. They are totally incapable of proving their belief’s and also cannot accept the others. Just compare the two things put here, both stands as a repelling poles keeping its distance ever maintained and never go along.

How foolishly people have blamed Hinduism as a narrow religion ever seen. Being narrow can any religion give so much liberty as we all enjoy today or done previously. Every individual was given a right to express, share, invent and contribute to the same. Have we ever seen this in any religion? Keeping caste system on the foreground of their message, the other religions have tried curbing it since ages. Today with a secular mask being put on their faces the politicians are trying to be over generous in making the other religions utilize the best time to market themselves and grab as many heads to their count.

This country has undergone so many barbarous attacks, from Islam or Christianity. History if read apart from the curriculum text books we clearly get to know that there were some kingdoms which arouse just to protect this culture and heritage. Great saints like vidhyaranya have boosted the morale of people by bringing back the lost or the culture which was on the verge of being extinct. They have always done so not to revert back with force in a reply but to show that with repetitive attacks or assaults being made on us we still stand with full pride with out harming anybody like the gopuram or the front entrance of the Srirangam temple that was attacked innumerable times and destroyed but today being the tallest of all. Earlier these attacks were for wealth but now it’s for the conversion. How complimentary these attacks are earlier it was by force and now by mercy.

As past cannot hide itself from us, we all know how cruel Islam and Christianity were. There were so many people tortured to death for speaking against this. Forget Islam, people did not even have right to give a commentary on the holy Quran which they had to blindly accept even if their true conscious says that it would have been good if something were to be like this. This was the blind belief followed from ages till date. Similarly with Christians, a law was made by the Pope that any body can commit mistakes by talking low on the religion but once pay fine to the church can wash away all their sins. This was the kind of business that was started. People who protested this later called themselves Protestants who always condemned the pope’s supremacy and came out as a separate group.

Why I had to tell these points is today we stand with a greatest challenge in front of us to face, that is the conversion that others are enforcing on us. We do not see in history that this was happening when Buddhism or Jainism co-existed in this country. But why today. Even earlier there were a lot of debates that would happen between religions and who ever loses, was not converting himself to the opponent’s religion but would accept the ability of his opponent and surrender himself to the truth which is more than what he had thought. There were thousands of such debates that we come across in the history but no example of conversion. See the simplicity of our people, Kumarily Bhattacharya a great teacher of Mimamsa shastra joined Buddhism to know what it was and when he was thrown out of Buddhism because he was a Hindu, he had a debate with is Buddhist guru and won over him. He did not celebrate his victory rather regretted saying he has hurt his Buddhist mentor and hence he scarifies himself by immolation. Or Achyuta prajna the guru of Madhwachary followed his student’s philosophy and surrenderd himself to his student, this clearly shows the acceptance that there is something more than an individual knows and if found correct would be accepted by them. But no force or mass attack. John Woodroffe says the biggest sin of Hinduism is still accepting Hindus who are truly non practitioners. But I feel that is the broadmindedness what we have. Also look at the things Christians are targeting, either food, clothes or shelter the basic needs of an individual. If these are met he can then think of the philosophy or religion. They are enchasing such things and drawing people to them. Vivekananda says “Do not talk philosophy to a hungry person” all that he needs is a plate of meal; don’t give him philosophy without giving the basic ones. This is the most atrocious way of attracting people to their religion. What would they really get by doing this, “realization” which remains at the same distance that it previously stood or “happiness” that is again linked with realization. Then what would be the secret behind this, nothing but the material benefits what these pastors or the bishops enjoy.

Hindus please realize that is high time we revert back. Try helping people. Utilize the age and strength for the service of mankind. It is time to revisit our ideas and get geared to protect ourselves. Let’s not fight with others, let’s not enforce others, lets not encash on others pains, rather work for its betterment. A religion which has always passed a message of universal brotherliness can never do cruel things as other did. Let’s be broad enough to wipe away the sins of others, and show others we can do what we want. For this the stepping stone would be to know more about our religion, our culture or what we call introspection. Many feel its nothing but myth and darkness, but stare the darkness you can see the eyes of knowledge opening up there. It is our duty to know our epics, our Vedas our Upanishads rather than calling it non-sense. Today people from Germany, France, Russia and many other countries are getting fascinated towards geeta and Upanishads and we shamelessly with no self respect call it to be a myth. One life would not be sufficient to attain knowledge, when such is the case I feel pity for people who are biased in their opinion and held up with pseudo secular ideas letting themselves down for it. If conversion goes at this rate very soon we need to see our bharatanatyam being dead our music being dead, our Vedas being dead, our temples demolished and cross kept on everything saying “Om Yesuve namaha”. How shamelessly they put this on churches today, which they have literally robbed from this religion. Do not make all our traditions and culture to be kept as mummies of Egypt in some museum.

Explore the real hidden truth in this religion like how many are doing it, only then you would really appreciate my pain in putting this article here. I would be the first to vote for the government that would bring in a law to ban conversion. Live and let live should be the motto of Christians hence forth which Hindus have accepted since ages.
